Veterans Benefits for Home Care

As a veteran, you may be entitled to benefits that help cover the cost of in-home care. Let's find out what you're eligible for.

Aid and Attendance Benefit

The Aid and Attendance (A&A) benefit is a tax-free monthly pension benefit provided by the VA. It's designed to help veterans and surviving spouses who need help with daily activities — like bathing, dressing, or medication management — pay for in-home care services.

Do You Qualify?

You may qualify for Aid and Attendance if you:

  • Served at least 90 days of active duty, with one day during wartime
  • Were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable
  • Need help with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, eating)
  • Meet certain income and asset requirements

What Can Veterans Benefits Cover?

If you qualify, the Aid and Attendance benefit can help pay for:

  • Personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming)
  • Meal preparation and feeding assistance
  • Light housekeeping
  • Medication reminders
  • Companionship and social interaction
  • Transportation to appointments
